چکیده

In this paper, we propose a mixture involving a fractional Brownian field and a modulated version of such a field for modeling High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) textures. The mixture under consideration is defined from the convolution operator applied on spatial variables of the two fields under consideration. We present estimation methods for the parameters of the model (2 Hurst parameters and 2 spectral poles) based on Wavelet Packet (WP) spectrum. The relevance of our method is highlighted by its application to the analysis of HRTEM images with active phases of a catalyst.

FBF-1 and FBF-2 regulate the size of the mitotic region in the C. elegans germline.

In the C. elegans germline, GLP-1/Notch signaling and two nearly identical RNA binding proteins, FBF-1 and FBF-2, promote proliferation. Here, we show that the fbf-1 and fbf-2 genes are largely redundant for promoting mitosis but that they have opposite roles in fine-tuning the size of the mitotic region. The mitotic region is smaller than normal in fbf-1 mutants but larger than normal in fbf-2...

The PUF binding landscape in metazoan germ cells.

PUF (Pumilio/FBF) proteins are RNA-binding proteins and conserved stem cell regulators. The Caenorhabditis elegans PUF proteins FBF-1 and FBF-2 (collectively FBF) regulate mRNAs in germ cells. Without FBF, adult germlines lose all stem cells. A major gap in our understanding of PUF proteins, including FBF, is a global view of their binding sites in their native context (i.e., their "binding lan...

The P granule component PGL-1 promotes the localization and silencing activity of the PUF protein FBF-2 in germline stem cells.

In the C. elegans germline, maintenance of undifferentiated stem cells depends on the PUF family RNA-binding proteins FBF-1 and FBF-2. FBF-1 and FBF-2 are 89% identical and are required redundantly to silence the expression of mRNAs that promote meiosis. Here we show that, despite their extensive sequence similarity, FBF-1 and FBF-2 have different effects on target mRNAs. FBF-1 promotes the deg...

Dose-dependent control of proliferation and sperm specification by FOG-1/CPEB.

RNA-binding proteins control germline development in metazoans. This work focuses on control of the C. elegans germline by two RNA-binding proteins: FOG-1, a CPEB homolog; and FBF, a PUF family member. Previous studies have shown that FOG-1 specifies the sperm fate and that FBF promotes proliferation. Here, we report that FOG-1 also promotes proliferation. Whereas fbf-1 fbf-2 double mutants mak...
